QUINCENARA POLICY

  1. Must be registered in the parish, known, and participating.

  2. Minimum of 6 months previous to the date requested in order to do the necessary liturgical and spiritual preparation for the candidate for the Quincenara.

  3. Music is arranged with Matt Gibson, Director of Music and Organist.

  4. Participation in the Retreat for 15 year old girls wishing a Quincenera.

  5. For Quinceneras: The liturgy will be celebrated in English unless the family is able to secure the service and ministry of a Spanish-speaking priest.

    The Guest Priest must be in good standing and have the faculties of the Diocese of Oakland or his own Diocese. Delegation is given when necessary.

    The norm for the liturgy is that of Sunday Eucharist, i.e. sung Psalm, sung Eucharistic Acclamations, music for the Communion Procession.

    Our Music Minister/Director of Music will assist in the selection and appropriateness of music for the Quincenera liturgy.

    Mariachi bands are not allowed in the Quincenera Liturgy but may be present afterwards.

    The Quincenera Retreat is given at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Concord, under the direction of Scarlett Salaveria or at Holy Rosary Parish, Antioch. Participation is mandatory for both the candidate and her parents. Arrange for the retreat by calling Scarlett at 925-682-5447, Ext. 24 or you may participate in the preparation program that is offered at Holy Rosary Church, 925-757-4020. Both programs are offered in Spanish only.

  6. The donations are as follows:
    Church: $500.00
    Includes stipend for the Presider, the Church, late fee, and Coordinator.*
    Quincenera Retreat: $100.00
    Organist: $150.00
    Cantor/Psalmist: $150.00

    * A Late Fee of $100.00 is included in the church fee. If the wedding or quincenera begins on time, the Late Fee is refunded.
